Bakso 2Nyonya: Meatball In The Next Level

 Bakso 2Nyonya

Bakso is one of the greatest street food in Jakarta. Year-by-year, the growth of bakso house, is unquestionably happened. More young entrepreneurs tend to create their signature meatball dishes (Re: semangkuk bakso) and innovate with it. Either by adding more chili, more cheese, or more meat; the presence of meatball could be reinterpreted. Therefore, Bakso 2 Nyonya is what I mean.

Established early this year, Bakso 2Nyonya is a new baby in bakso industry. Start with the humble beginning in the past, and they used a cart to sell those meatball dishes. During that time they have more than 50 customers a day, and within that kind of environment, it is not possible to serve that number of people at the same time. Until they decided to move to a new place right on the opposite of their former location with a better environment.

 Bakso 2Nyonya

 Bakso 2Nyonya

Located in Tanjung Duren area, Bakso 2Nyonya own a Kopitiam style dining area. It kindly reminds me about hawker food stall in Singapore which is straightforward and minimalist. Once you stepped inside the venue, you can smell the beautiful aroma of bakso and bakmie (Re: noodle). It is kind of warm here since they didn't use any AC. But still, I just love this place.

 Yamin Rica-Rica

 Yamin Rica-Rica

I need to admit this Yamin Rica Komplit (IDR 25,000 / S$ 3,10) is one of the best noodles in West Jakarta. Featuring an ultra-smooth noodle with spicy and cheesy meatballs; covered in sweet soy sauce. Whenever you slurp it, you can feel each strand of noodle just spread nicely and comprehensively al dante. Since I love sweet soy sauce, this menu completely satisfying. Just have it while it warm for the best experience.

Bakso Komplit

 Bakso Komplit

They are known for Bakso Komplit (IDR 23,000 / S$ 2,90), a bowl full of meatball including rawit (spicy), keju (cheese), urat (tendon), and halus (original); topped with sum sum. It's simple, tasty, and comforting. Perhaps, the real winner of that bowl of bakso is that soup. You can feel the meatiness, creaminess, and perfect blend of spices all in one spoon. That meatball is also handmade without any preservatives; no wonder you can feel the bounciness and juiciness texture of it.

 Bakso Goreng Sambal Matah

 Bakso Goreng Sambal Matah

A new menu that you must try is Bakso Goreng Sambal Matah. Featuring the nicely cooked meatball with fragrant rice; bathed in sambal matah sauce. This item is utterly stunning! The spiciness, sweetness, and saltiness level of it is just perfect. Also, that sambal matah is nicely executed which I ask for more. One portion is quite generous; you can share it for two.

 Bakso 2Nyonya

Bakso 2Nyonya is one of the great destination for meatball and Noodle. The menu itself is innovative and attractive. Either you are a spicy, sweet, or salty person; they got a proper meal for you. Also, they did not have any AC within the dining area. Just use a casual outfit to avoid hot and steam feelings during your feasting.

Bakso Malang and Batagor Atan: Comfort Food At Its Finest

 Bakso Malang and Batagor Atan

As a proud Indonesian who love local food more than anything else, I would travel anywhere to find the best bakso malang and batagor in town. Bakso malang and batagor are originally from Malang and/or Bandung. Both menus is a type of street food that never faded away and keep on growing until now. The rise of young entrepreneurs like Leo and Nathan, his colleague, has successfully brought the authentic local food into the next level. Therefore, those guys are the founder of Bakso Malang and Batagor Atan or simplified as Atan Food.

Established in 2016, Bakso Malang and Batagor Atan is classified as a new baby in the market. Specialized in Bakso Malang (Indonesian Meatball Soup) and Batagor (Deep Fried Fish Cake with Peanut Sauce), guest can mix-and-match any ingredients into one plate. Siomay (Siumay), Pangsit Goreng (Fried Wonton), Tahu Isi (Chewy Beancurd stuffed with Meat), Bakso Urat (Handmade Meatball), Bakso Goreng (Fried Meatball), etc. is part of those ingredients which are freshly made daily without any preservatives and food coloring. Do expect for the beautiful and nice texture of meat like no other here.

Bakso Malang and Batagor Atan

Having three outlets citywide, this is the pop-up shop in Mal Taman Anggrek. There is no iconic element here unless the food gallery itself. With beautiful stacks of bakso goreng, pangsit goreng, and more, each guest might be caught mouthwatering all the time. Also, they only have two staffs here, no wonder if the queue would never get a stop.

 Bakso Malang

Star with the crowd pleaser menu called Bakso Malang. Featuring the full bowl of bakso goreng, pangsit goreng, tahu isi, and siumay; bathed in rich chicken stock. It's crispy, meaty, and packed with flavor. Perhaps, the real star on that bowl of goodness is just everything! Each element got a different taste that surprisingly delicious and stunning. With that hot soup, you might feel a true complexity between crispiness and wetness. Nevertheless, it remains warm until the last bite of it. Must try.

 Batagor

Batagor is another signature menu collection by Atan Food. Featuring the deep fried fish cake in the form of wonton, dumplings, a mixture of meat; bathed in gooey peanut sauce. Once you taste it, you might feel the perfect crunchy texture at first followed by the sweetness and creaminess from that peanut sauce. The best thing behind this menu is that fish cake which got less oily but meatier texture. Just have it while it warm for the best experience.

 Bakso Malang and Batagor Atan

Bakso Malang and Batagor Atan (Atan Food) is one of the outstanding examples of young entrepreneurs who preserve the authentic taste of local food, even elevate it to new heights. Either Bakso Malang or Batagor, both menu is right regarding flavor and texture. But, personally, I do recommend you to try the Bakso Malang which is warm and comforting. It is rainy outside, and I think you need this more. How do you say? Just let me know your comment after taste this! :)

Tom Tom Kitchen: New Menu Launching

 Tom Tom Kitchen

It is a while since I visit Tom Tom Kitchen before moving to Singapore. During that time, I still remember the most authentic taste of Thai cuisine that they prepared right in front of me. With over 30 menus available, I never get bored with this venue until I bring more people here to convince them that Tom Tom Kitchen is seriously amazing.

Now, Tom Tom Kitchen finally comes up with new menu. 4 years establishment that never lies and survives over the test of time. Tom Tom Kitchen is a sister brand of Suan Thai, a well known Thai restaurant since 1990's. Without removing the nuance of white elephant culture, Tom Tom Kitchen offers you a well clean and classic signature Thai cuisine in a modern way. Let's take a peek! :)

 Tom Tom Kitchen

 Tom Tom Kitchen

Nestled in Grand Indonesia Shopping Town, Tom Tom Kitchen has been moving to a new spot at level 5 of this building. Previously, they are located at level 4 with smaller space, and now getting a better and unique venue at the corner. Stepped inside the venue, you might see a charming and eye catching Thai decor with huge statue and chandelier. There is a VIP room as well that can accommodate 10 - 15 people at the same time. With this new face, the whole dining experience would be elevated. Even the atmosphere is comforting and warm enough to stay a bit longer.

I visit them on Friday, and many customers join the crowd. There is a huge energy there while I am waiting for my food to come. However, it is all worth at the end.

 Yam Som O

 Yam Som O

It is better to start with something refreshing like this Yam Som O. Featuring a freshly peeled pomelo with fresh cut cucumber and mango; bathed in sweet and sour sauce. It is simple, delicious, and light. For sure, the real star on that bowl of appetizer is the pomelo itself with a touch of that sauce. You might share this with two people since the portion is quite generous.

 Tom Zaap Neah

 Tom Zaap Neah

If you are looking for something hot and spicy, Tom Zaap Neah could be your right decision to make. Featuring the fork tender beef meat; bathed in sweet and sour soup. I quite skeptical when looking at this menu but once I taste it, it surprisingly satisfying. The balanced flavor of that soup is not overpowering the plate while that meat remains tender even after 30 minutes of feasting. Definitely, must try.

 Kung Op Wun Sen

Nevertheless, Kung Op Wun Sen comes in exceptional flavor and fantastic presentation. Featuring the perfectly cooked clay pot prawn with juicy meat and fresh herbs. Not as tasty as I expected, but fragrant. Also, the freshness of that tiger prawn is just incredible. You just won't believe until you taste it! :)

 Pla Sam Sien

Pla Sam Sien

 Pla Sam Sien

Honestly, I never saw this kind of menu in Jakarta. Pla Sam Sien is a stir fried wide noodle; bathed in gooey sauce. Our locals called this as Kwetiauw siram, and yes, it tastes unbelievably delicious. The presence of Bok Choy, Mushroom, and Fish has elevated the whole flavor of it. You might expect for the strong wok hei aroma since it is all there. But still, the real star of this dishes belongs to that wide noodle (kwetiau) which is chewy and fragrant.

 Tom Yam Haeng

Ever heard about stir fried tom yum seafood? If you are not, make sure to try this Tom Yam Haeng. It's simple, aromatic, and addictive. Personally, I never see this kind of menu in Jakarta, and now I am so glad to find it one. However, the portion is too small, and the chili is not that spicy. I do expect for more heat for my liking.

 Mee Krob

The best menu from the list is here. Mee Krob is a stir fried glass noodle with chili and various spices. Once you taste it, you can feel the stickiness of that sauce together with the crispiness of that noodle. Overall, it feels as good as it looks. But, if I come for another round, I would like to ask for an additional omelet on top. It will be perfect to be paired with this menu.

 Khao Pad Poo

Khao Pad Poo is also stunning. Featuring a simple stir fried rice with succulent pieces of crab meat that will remind you the real taste of Thailand street food. Not as tasty as I imagine, but still delicious.

 Chicken Wing

 Chicken Wing

Still not enough? This golden Chicken Wing might be your last order. The lightly battered on that wing add another dimension of crispiness and crunchiness for your palate. Also, the presence of basil leaf has affected the whole flavor of it. Quite delicious but not my favorite.

Hot Thai Tea

For the beverage, I might recommend you to try the Hot Thai Tea instead of the iced one. It will desaturate the oily and meaty texture after feasting that meal. Another beverage might be found on the menu.

 Tom Tom Kitchen

Tom Tom Kitchen is one of the most anticipated Thai restaurants in Jakarta. Overall, the whole menu is just delicious and pretty satisfying. Nevertheless, it comes in a gorgeous presentation. Just bring your family here and treat them well. Enjoy! :)
