One of the prestigious buffet restaurants in Singapore might be J65 at Hotel Jen Tanglin. Offering the multicultural cuisine including Singaporean, Indian, Malaysian, and Indonesian cuisine that has been packed in beautiful setup. All menu was made by the very talented chef who is humble enough to greet each of you.
As the title suggest, J65 taken its inspiration from Singapore 'an international dialing code (+65) and 'J' as the initial letter of Hotel Jen Tanglin. Do expect for the freshly made Southeast Asian Menus that comes in a free-flow system and affordable prices here.
Nestled in Lobby level of Hotel Jen Tanglin, this prestigious brand owned a very spacious dining area. The 150 seating capacity seems to be more than enough, though. Because the crowd is not even high during the weekend. I visit this place both weekend and weekday, there are no huge differences between both times. However, during PH and holiday season the crowd is overwhelming.
Stepped inside the venue, guest can feel the beautiful touch of modern furniture, country-style wallpaper, and open-kitchen counter. Because of this appealing decor, the warm and comfort atmosphere has been emulated.
Every good buffet will comes with freshly made sushi counter. There are approximately 8 types of sushi there including salmon sashimi, jumbo prawn, California roll, unagi roll, egg roll, etc. The freshness was indisputable. Just take whatever you like there.
Beside that counter, you can spot-on the freshly served Lobster, Prawn, and Oyster. I definitely love the presentation of that lobsters that looks so appealing.
Several menus is a seasonal item within short term period and that is the star item for sure. Singapore Chilli Crab, Singapore Laksa, Cap Chay, and several types of Murtabak. All made fresh upon order and set in authentic flavor. Nevertheless, it's absolutely MSG free.
If you ask me personally, I would recommend you to go straight to the hot dishes counter where you can find Chicken Satay, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Chicken Tandoori, BBQ Pork Honey, and Fried Squid. Juicy, tender, and tasty all in one bite. For the bowl of steam rice, you can find it easily at the left corner of the dining area.
Think about Western delicacies? You might found the perfectly cooked Bacon, Chicken Sausage, and Potato Wedges close to the Asian counter (right at the center). Then, for those who love greens and healthy food, there is a special salad counter that features you 6 types of salad in a beautiful and colorful presentation.
Never leave this place without tasting their dessert. Several locals favorite item including Kueh Tutu, Kueh Lapis, and Gula Melaka Cake might be your best choice. Also, the Rainbow Cheesecake and Chocolate Mouse Cake is what I love the moist. It's moist, very sweet, and dense. Just paired this with a cup of tea/coffee for the best experience. Authors best station is here!
During my visit, there is a special stall for Teh Tarik and Es Campur. Both beverages are my favorite since it tastes so fresh and genuine. Such a good way to end up the night.
J65 at Hotel Jen Tanglin is worth a try. Not the best in industry but deliver a very pleasant dining experience for each of their guests. All the staff is friendly and humbly answer every question that I asked during that time. Do see the price down below and book your seats. Enjoy.
