Trending Food in March 2017: New Item and New Restaurants

As I spoke to you earlier, at the end of every month, there would be a special review to highlight everything new and exciting within 30/31 days period. Ranging from the ultimate curry rice to the sweetest matcha donuts, I bet you just won't missed this incredible food treat for sure. Either you are a sweet person who secures your position in a quest to find the best cake in town or even a savory person who works hand-in-hand with a burger, both of them is all available here.

Applewood Bacon Burger

1. Applewood Bacon Burger: Omakase Burger
For New York style burger with a twist. This rare and premium menu in Omakase Burger has set a new standard for burger lover in terms of flavor and texture. Featuring the hearty combination between firm beef patty with crispy bacon that has been smoked over applewood chips and buttery bun for right composition. It's juicy, smoky, and flavorful. Paired this with Cheese Fries and Iced Coca-Cola for the best experience. How do you think?

Japanese Curry Scallops and Chicken Rice

2. Japanese Curry Scallops and Chicken Rice: Pepper Lunch
Sizzling your way. Recently, most of you asked me the value-for-money food that tastes unbelievably good. Perhaps, this Japanese Curry Scallops and Chicken could be the idea. Comes in piping hot and fresh, that scallops are the real winner here. It's juicy, moist, and bit of chewy. Together with rich curry sauce, sunny side up, and fragrant rice, this menu is packed with calories and just satisfying.

Green Tea Donuts

3. Green Tea Donuts: Krispy Kreme
Sweet nostalgia. There are tons of donuts available in Singapore, but the must-try one is here. With the soft yet light texture of the dough and perfect glazing of matcha powder, the overall flavor is just nice as it looks. The strong kick of matcha powder might be the reason why I love this cake much. However, different outlet got a different standard. In a sense, consistency always is an issue here.

A5 MIzayaki Beef

4. A5 Mizayaki Beef: Takujo at Emporium Shohukin
Japanese fine dining experience. Looking for the most distinction Wagyu Beef in Singapore? Be sure to make your move here. That meat is so tender and when you bite it, it will just dissolve immediately. Also, they served this with three type of ingredients including soy sauce, salt, and fresh cut lemon. Just mixed and match like the way you mean it and enjoy.

Royal Thai Hotpot

5. Royal Thai Hotpot: Soi Thai Soi Nice
Heartwarming food to be shared. Featuring the succulent pieces of prawn, fresh crayfish, moist scallops, egg noodle, and light vegetables; bathed in rich tom yam soup. The main highlight of this dish is just everything. Cannot spot the weaknesses of it since the whole flavor is well balanced (salty, sweet, tangy, and spicy) and the texture remain nice until the last bites of it. Suitable for 4 - 6 person.

Wagyu Beef Burger with Peanut Butter Sauce

6. Wagyu Beef Burger with Peanut Butter Sauce: Portico Host
You might see my previous post about this on Instagram and Snapchat, and yes it becomes the trending topic for a while. It looks incredibly attractive with oozy egg yolk and overloaded peanut butter sauce. However, this dish might become your love or your hate at the same time. Since that peanut butter sauce is overpowering and beat the real taste of that meat. That bun is not bad with buttery and airy texture.

Shoyu Soba

7. Shoyu Soba: Tsuta
The first Michelin-starred ramen in the world. I am quite skeptical with this since the overall review is good. In fact, it tastes really nice and light. The noodle is perfectly springy and that soup is so tasty with strong truffle aroma. I cannot believe that juicy slabs of meat have redefined my charsiew standard since it made fresh upon order and meatier than ever. The other best thing here is the service. When I stepped inside the venue, all the chef and local waiter greet me with a smile and explains to me how to enjoy this dish properly. Such a pleasant dining experience.

Prawn Omelette

8. Prawn Omelette: Nakhon Kitchen
The secret menu that you never-ever find on their menu! I am part of their loyal customer since last year and last week the waiter ask me to try the Prawn Omelette which is not even available on the menu. After I try it, fortunately, it tastes beyond what I expected before. The omelet is perfectly cooked and airy with fresh pieces of prawn at the center. Served with house made Thai chili sauce on the side, this menu is perfect to be paired with hot steam rice. Still planning my next visit for this.

Sweet and Sour Chicken

9. Sweet and Sour Chicken: Kowloon Bay Cafe
Gem inside Hillion Mall, a newly opened shopping center in West side of Singapore. The main reason why I recommend you to try this is because that juicy chicken cube has successfully delivered a strong wok aroma and crispy skin like no other. The sauce itself is quite tasty and not overpowering that chicken. Apart from what it taste and what it looks, the price seems to be affordable as well.

Address: #01-07 Hillion Mall
17 Petir Rd
Nearest MRT: Bukit Panjang
Operational Hours:
10.00am - 10.00pm (Everyday)

Tom Yam Seafood Ramen

10. Tom Yam Seafood Ramen: Ohsho Ramen
Value-for-money ramen in Orchard. Decked in Kopitiam area with no aircon and WiFi, Ohsho Ramen set a completely traditional way of ramen dining. Owned by the local chef, each menu is delivered in strong and comforting taste. That juicy pieces of prawn are what I love the most while the best part of this menu located on that soup. It's salty, spicy, and tangy. Wouldn't expect much more than that.

11. Jajangmyeon: O.BBa Jjang
Might be the most authentic Jajangmyeon in Singapore. Featuring the ultra-smooth noodle, bathed in tasty black bean sauce and minced pork meat. Perhaps, the main highlight of this menu is located on its texture and flavor, not the presentation.
