Established in 2016, Portico Host is one of the newest ventures in town. Combining three dining concepts (restaurant, cafe, and bar) to set an extraordinary eating or chilling experience like never. If we talk about the menu, there is around 20 different meal to be tasted here. Most of them is a classic blend between European and Western cuisine that taste incredibly delicious. Since I have received a lot of request for brunch places in Singapore, one of them might be here.
Tucked away in Alexandra Rd, this venue is kind of hidden gem inside the industrial area. If you never come here, you will easily get lost and hard to find this venue. Just use the Google Maps and it takes around 15 - 20 minutes from MRT station by walk.
Stepped inside the venue, you will be impressed by the cost and warm atmosphere. The whole interior design inspired by European bistro cafe with a touch of wooden furniture and light bulb. There is two section of dining area including indoor and outdoor. Personally, I love the outdoor section with al fresco lounge and bar seating. You can definitely feel the wind breeze and fresh air here.
Start with the crowd pleaser menu called Portico's Big Breakfast. Featuring a simple combination between crispy bacon, juicy sausages, sunny side up, and the freshly baked bagel. It's simple, meaty and flavourful. I love the doneness level of that egg that adds more creamy texture while having that meat. For the presentation, no doubt to say, it looks stunning.
Wagyu Beef Burger with Peanut Sauce is kind of love and hate relationship. Foodies who love chunky peanut sauce texture will definitely like this. However, for those who resist the peanut sauce, can also skip this. I personally love the juicy beef patty that house made. Definitely, melt in your mouth whenever you bite it.
If you are looking for the healthier menu, go get the Granola that taste so good. It's refreshing, sweet, and naturally beautiful. Paired this with a cup of cappuccino for the best experience.
You might judge this dish based on its look, but believe me, it tastes beyond what you expected before. French Toast by Portico Host is not only sweet but well balanced. I do love the crispy yet buttery texture of that bun with housemade berries jam. It's not too sweet, but kind of flavorful. One of the best brunch menu here.
Pandan Gula Melaka Crepes is just not bad. I can feel the strong gula melaka flavor with a hint of coconut powder as well. However, the crepes texture is too soft and taste quite plain. I am not a big fan of this menu and possibly would skip it to the next meal.
Last but not least is Fluffy Hotcake. The best seller brunch menu in Portico Host with unbelievably beautiful flavor and texture. As its title suggest, the hotcake is just fluffy and soft while that mixed berries topping adds a natural freshness into your palate. You just won't missed this.
Portico Host is a perfect hangout place in South West area. The food is good while the ambiance is better. Worth a visit.
