Ranging from the hearty plate of noodles to the ultimate cookery like curry fish head is all available here. Comes at very affordable prices, no wonder if Jiak always packed with people.
Just launched in late 2016, this good establishment is still categorized as new and trending. Taken its inspiration from a significant ground in Singapore food culture, Jiak, obviously, transport you to the taste of nostalgia without any hesitation and apologize. To make them even more attracting, the owner will guarantee you a great standard of the meal which means every menu is freshly made upon order, there are no preservatives, and absolutely well-presented. Either you are a teenagers or professionals, people from all ages are very welcome.
Tucked away in HillV2, Jiak owned a very spacious dining area. With a touch of natural light, wooden furniture and little bit Chinese decoration, Jiak put emphasis on classic yet wonderful local dining scene. Usually, the whole dining area always packed with family during the weekend and office workers during the weekday. What impresses me a lot is the way each staff become really friendly and taking care of my order really fast. Even each meal comes between 5 – 15 minutes during peak hour. Absolutely reliable.
Start with the crowd pleaser menu called Claypot Golden Chicken (S$ 10.00 / Small, S$ 16.00 / Large). A perfectly cooked chicken bathed in rich soy sauce and topped with coriander and chili is just incredible. It's juicy, tender and flavourful. Even when you fork it, the meat will just separate from its bone easily and release the wok aroma to caught you mouthwatering all the time. Since it comes in a huge portion, do share this for 2 pax (small) or 4 – 5 pax (large).
The trend of salted egg dishes might be reduced, but Jiak's signature menu collection called Salted Egg Sotong (S$ 12.00 / Small, S$ 18.00 / Large) is certainly must try. The squid is slightly chewy and more tender, so when it goes into your mouth it will just melt immediately. What I love the most from here is the crispiness of that skin and the richness of that sauce without any oily or greasy texture. They do execute every single element nicely. Worth paying more.
In case you are looking for noodle, this Mee Goreng (S$ 5.00 / Small, S$ 10.00 / Large) will satisfy your crave rightly. Featuring the perfectly springy noodle bathed in rich tomato paste and sweet soy sauce, served with juicy pieces of prawn and chicken. Whenever you start lifting it, the beautiful aroma is just irresistible and indulge you all over again. There are so many types of Mee Goreng in Singapore, but one of the best is here. Make sure you won't leave without trying this.
Kampung Fried Rice (S$ 5.00 / Small, S$ 10.00 / Large) is also quite good. The rice is so fragrant and blends really well with other components there. Just ask for extra spicy for better flavor.
For the beverage, you will definitely love their Lime/Lemonade Juice (S$ 2.50) which is really fresh and refreshing. Another kind of canned drinks also available, just take it directly from the refrigerator or ask the staff during your visit.
Jiak is one of the best restaurants in West side of Singapore that offer you the most authentic local delicacies at very reasonable prices. The whole food is great, even the ambiance is just comforting as well. You will have an exquisite dining experience right here.
