In case you haven't heard about Fish Tales, let me explain you a little bit. Fish Tales is the latest F&B venture in Orchard area who offer you the most affordable fish and chips dishes in a gorgeous and modern presentation. The all-time classic British food is must be delicious and never cost you above S$ 12.00, and the owner Mr. Joses Chan, formerly living in Australia for three years, proves that point right. Established in late 2015, when the market for seafood restaurant is quite low and not even satisfying in Singapore, this passionate guy seen this particular scene as an opportunity to develop Fish Tales as the casual dining restaurant for a modern and comforting meal.
Situated nicely at the SCAPE Orchard exactly at the front row of this hipster shopping center, Fish Tales only own a small space with minimalist décor and a couple of staffs. As you can see, they used a wooden furniture with warm lighting and simple table settings. The spacing between each table is just tight and somehow really bothering too, but the food is the only concern here.
Basically, the crowd is quite consistent especially during weekdays when a group of office workers and students come here to enjoy their meal. I do suggest you come a bit earlier to avoid the long waiting time. Even though the crowd seems to be too high, each staff is just responsive and quickly taking your order.
Also, they apply the self-service system when each guest can take whatever they like to including chili sauce, tomato sauce, mayo sauce, parmesan cheese or chili powder. Simply make your order at the cashier, then wait until your ordering machine ringing and take your meal at the specific counter located at the back side of this restaurant. Usually, each meal comes no longer than 15 minutes.
The crowd pleaser menu is just here. Cheesy Affair (S$ 10.90) is inspired by modern British menu that comprises the double cheese layer together with battered white fish, homemade chips, and coleslaw. The perfect combination that results in crispy, juicy and cheesy sensation for every fork of it. Apart from what it taste, the presentation also well maintained here. To produce the Instagram-worthy picture, it is just a click.
I definitely recommend you try this. Beaurre Au Citron (S$ 9.90), a combination of crispy battered fish topped with the special sauce and served together with pasta. In fact, the combination of garlic, lemon, and butter is what makes that sauce really stand out. Compared with the previous version of fish and chips, this menu is much lighter and tastier. Treat yourself with the most savory menu right here.
Prawn Mushroom Aglio Olio (S$ 10.90) is not bad as well. The pasta is nicely cooked with al-dante texture then that coastal meat is just succulent. Just add more parmesan cheese and chili powder for extra flavor.
For the beverage, just go with Canned Lemon Tea (S$ 1.50) which taste so sweet and refreshing. Also, the free ice water is available at the pick-up counter.
Do expect for a lip-smacking sensation at Fish Tales that offer you the most affordable Western food like no other. Each menu is well presented and comes in nice flavor as well. Perhaps, the best meal ever to be tasted is Beaurre Au Citron.
