Singapore Hawker Food Scene

Singapore is a right destination for getting fat easily. Because there are so many good foods to be tasted here. As the continuation from the first edition, this time our team does highlight to must comforting hawker food to spice up your palate. Ranging from S$ 1.50 to S$ 9.00 per menu, everything is just affordable and wallet friendly. Just tell us which one do you like and feel free to share this! :)

 Salted Egg Squid

1. Salted Egg Squid (S$ 9.00)
You are exactly in Singapore if salted egg dishes is all around the corner. Some of you might be saying Salted Egg Chicken is too boring, then how about Salted Egg Squid? We guess no one can resist this. Recently, our team finds the great one in Lau Pa Sat Hawker Food Market. It's juicy, crispy and tasty. The perfectly cooked squid bathed in rich salted egg sauce is undeniably delicious. Especially the portion is quite huge, suitable for sharing 2 - 3 people.

 Fried Tofu Skin Rolls

2. Fried Tofu Skin Rolls (S$ 1.40)
There is a time when light bites are more attracting instead of the heavy one. That is why the presence of Fried Tofu Skin Rolls is necessary. This handmade Chinese dumpling comprises the mixture of meat covered by crispy dumpling skin and served together with special soy sauce. Definitely simple and delicious. One piece is never enough.

Char Kway Tiao

3. Char Kwey Tiao (S$ 3.00)
Hearty local food with no apologies. Who can resist a beautifully cooked rice noodle coated in rich soy sauce and multiple spices? No one for sure. Comes together with ultra-tender beef, this menu is absolutely perfect and rich in flavor. Just add a tablespoon a sambal for spicy food fanatic. Enjoy!

 Carrot Cake

4. Carrot Cake (S$ 3.00)
Decent zi char menu that certainly made from scratch. Basically, this menu comes in two different option which is black or white. Black stands for sweet soy sauce while the white one is the original version of this menu by using original soy sauce. Both options are absolutely good depends on your preference.

5. Popiah (S$ 3.50)
Popiah is a mandatory local food that put emphasis on light flavor and rich texture. As you can see, there are a lot of ingredients there. Ranging from egg, reddish, bean sprouts and shrimp has been wrapped nicely using a thin dumpling skin. Usually, there will serve this with homemade soy sauce. Just dip it carefully to achieve a better flavor of this snack. Sounds good, right?

ASEAN country like Indonesia, Malaysia and India also served this in a different name but the same presentation. Basically, these sweet little things are made from palm sugar, rice flour, and pandan leaf. A petite size of it makes you convenient to chew this in one bite. However, the live cooking show also attracting. You will hear a sizzle sounds followed by the beautiful aroma of it.

An old establishment that never out of style. A hearty combination between thick noodle and chewy fishball is undeniably delicious. The customer can choose either spicy or sweet as a compliment. Fresh, smooth and tasty in every slurp of it. Even the presentation speaks better than words.

No one could beat Singapore Laksa in terms of flavor and texture. Featuring a hearty combination between springy noodle, tender chicken breast and chewy fish cake bathed in rich laksa soup is what to expect from this. It's smooth, rich and packed with good aroma. Knowing that Singapore just enters the rainy season, this meal will warmth you up. Perhaps?

Heartwarming local food like no other. That tom yam soup is what keep you enjoying this meal much. Comes together with 5 choices of noodle, you can find whatever you like. Sounds not enough? Just ask for the additional fried egg (S$ 1.00), because it tastes so crispy and good. Author's favorite.

Simply good. Established for more than 50 years, this menu has faced various incarnations until much more modern like now. A wide array of protein is also available to be paired with this menu. The ultimate suggestion might be chicken tender or even fried fish. It will add more crispiness and juiciness on every spoon of it.
