STREET 50 Restaurant & Bar - Great Singapore Savour 2016

Perfectly timed with GSS, STREET 50 Restaurant & Bar is rolling out Great Singapore Savour where the brand new all-day dining menu is here to impress. Accentuating favorite local street food, with amazing twists and styles, and well-presented in palatable small plates, there is a wallet-friendly, share worthy selection of about 20 (street-)smart treats priced from S$ 7.90 to S$ 12.90.

The unpretentious flagship restaurant of 333-room Bay Hotel Singapore, the largest homegrown executive boutique hotel, that constantly keeps up with the well-traveled palates of locals and visitors from the world over to delight you with the best of the Singapore food scene. STREET 50 Restaurant & Bar is also renowned for its Asian Signatures weekend buffet lunch and weekend night hotspot buffet dinner from Friday to Sunday, served in iconic Chinoiserie chic hotspots.

First come, first served. The most brilliant Salted Egg Lava Chicken Breast (S$ 9.90) is the new Malaysian chef Kelvin's signature rendition of chicken breast encased with his homemade salted yolk paste instead. It's a visual treat too when you enjoy the sight of salted egg lava trickling down the tender chicken meat roll.

Another chicken dish on the new menu called Coffee Wings (S$ 7.90). A deep fried chicken mid joints with chef's homemade Hong Kong style coffee jam. Believed to be the first in Singapore and only available at STREET 50 Restaurant & Bar. Even though it is a pretty uncommon combination, surprisingly it's just taste great. Especially for those who are a coffee drinkers, this dish is dedicated for you. Local food in the next level.

It is not unusual to see the Oyster Char Kway Teow (S$ 12.90), but this perfect marriage of wok-fried flat rice noodle with fresh oysters, with hints of Chinese wine, thai kai lan and mushroom in oyster sauce absolutely undeniable. It's tasty, salty, and delicious. You can expect more from this.

Still on the latest craze of salted egg yolk dishes, Soft Shell Crab with Salted Egg Dip (S$ 7.90) comes next. A deep-fried delight that is just as lip-smackingly great when accompanied with the fragrant, golden-hued salted egg cream. Simply entertaining.

The best part in STREET 50 Restaurant & Bar is here. Cereal Prawns with Wasabi Dressing (S$ 9.90), deep-fried crispy prawns spiced with cereal and served with wasabi dip may appear like just another sinful zi char specialty. However, the culinary team is certain that it will be a returning favorite as the prawns are lightly battered with mild sweet and savoury flavour a, leaving no greasy aftertaste. 

On a spicier note, but truly appetite-whetting, Nyonya Sambal Prawns (S$ 9.90). Traditional local food that has been modified into a certain level of simple modern food. Basically it's a succulent fresh prawns in lemongrass spicy sambal with pineapple slices and ladyfinger chunks. Quite good though. 

The other staple commonly food on any zi char menu so fried rice. But at STREET 50 Restaurant & Bar, the X.O. Scallop & Prawns Fried Rice (S$ 9.90) is wok-fried with generous servings of prawns and scallops and masterfully wrapped in Japanese-style omelette, served omu style. Does it looks interesting?

Last but not least, there is the magnificent section or must-try main courses. Of noteworthy mention is the Claypot Asam Fish Head or Curry Fish Head (S$ 18.90) simmered in Assam gravy or Indian curry which harmonizes perfectly with the recommended dishes of the savour-and-share genre.
