Shang Palace - The Prosperous New Year Of The Monkey


Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta welcomes the arrival of the Year of The Monkey on 8 February 2016 with an array of special festive offerings and invites guests to ring in the new and prosperous year by enjoying a range of dining indulgences overflowing with the taste of the Orient. As the heart of the celebration, the hotel’s Cantonese restaurant, Shang Palace, will prepare special culinary delights in honour of the festivity. Starting on Chinese New Year’s Eve on 7 February until 22 February 2016, guests are invited to feast on traditional Chinese set menus, with options ranging from Xin Nian Kuai Le (Rp. 988,000++ per person), Gong Xi Fa Cai (Rp. 1,388,000++ per person), and Wan Shi Ru Yi (Rp. 1,988,000++ per person). For the little ones partaking in the celebration, a children’s set menu will be available during the evening for Rp. 258,000++ per child. On Chinese New Year’s Day on 8 February 2016, guests may enjoy a delectable Chinese buffet spread with a glass of sparkling wine for Rp. 358,000++.

Not only offering a wide variety of delightful chinese cuisine, but according to the ambience here, it has been decorated by red property as a symbol of prosperity in chinese tradition. Sitting around this area with your lovely family while enjoying the great set menu absolutely create a warmth feeling.

Barbecue Suckling Pig and Jelly Fish
It is absolutely a must to served suckling pig during chinese new year. Just concern on the skin layer on top of that meat. Perfectly crispy and rich of flavour. Then, it comes the meat with wonderful juicy and moist texture. Meanwhile, that jelly fish on side also entertaining as well. You can enjoy it as a compliment while eating the whole meat. 

Baked Lobster with Egg White in Barbecue Sauce
The best Chinese dishes that i ever taste lately. A beautifully cooked lobster covered by melted cheese absolutely scrumptious. The meat is so juicy and moist actually, while the salty flavour of that cheese has create a delicious flavour for it. Featuring whole lobster with some additional egg white is a brilliant idea of presentation. Believe it or not, it is quite hard to find a good lobster dishes in Jakarta, but luckily i found it now. It is time for you to proof it.


Deep Fried Prawn with Mayonnaise accompanied with Fried Prawn Ball with Foie Grass
A common Chinese cuisine with generous flavour. The most beautiful things here located on that prawn. It is absolutely juicy and fresh. Covered with mayo sauce makes it even more delicious. Meanwhile, the fried prawn ball with foie grass is simply entertaining. The crispness layer on the outer meet a wonderful filling on the core. Absolutely great to be served on this prestigious month.


Crispy chicken with mango in spicy sauce
Great dishes with aromatic flavour. First of all the chicken is so juicy and tender. It then followed by aromatic flavour of the mango sauce. However, i know this is a simple combination but somehow our tongue is more common with the usual Chinese dishes like this. Right, folks?


Stir Fried Asparagus served with Scallops and Sushi Fish Cake
Asparagus is a must during Chinese New Year. Followed by tradition, modified by passion. Nowadays people love to create some unusual combination like this and for me this one up to the standard. Technically, the asparagus was nicely cooked which means it still crunchy and moist. The simple seasonings absolutely works really well due to this case. Especially the scallop is totally fresh and little bit chewy. I do not know why, but the sushi fish cake also entertain me when i taste it. It is definitely crunchy and pretty delicious. Once you try it, make sure to taste all of the component just in a single spoon to get the best flavour of it.

Deep Fried King Prawn with Laci Sauce accompanied with Golden Bun
It is rich and full of spices. The king prawn could be your main concern here. It is totally fresh and nicely cooked actually, then when it comes with that red sticky sauce all of the aromas will be come out and it will lifting up the whole flavour of this dish. The bun is totally soft and airy. However, this dish remind me the sophisticated flavour of Singapore Chili Crab but it served in a different way using prawn and bun.
